Wellness Redefined

I always thought that if you eat well, exercise, get enough sleep, make enough money, have healthy relationships, and accomplish your goals, you will achieve “complete wellness.” That is why I was so bewildered when I found myself in a slump for no good reason. In many ways my life was far better than it had ever been, and yet the promises of being “happy” hadn’t delivered. All of the evidence told me that I should feel great, but instead I found myself in an emotional rut. What I was experiencing didn’t make sense– I couldn’t pinpoint the why and therefore I was at a loss of how to “fix it.”

What I did know was that I felt depleted and drained. Exercise gave me a temporary boost but it was short lived. The same was true for meditation. I was successfully keeping up with the freight train of activities in my life, including work, cooking healthy food for my family, exercise, running the kids to tutoring, dance, martial arts, etc, and occasionally meeting up with friends or having a date with my husband. I felt a sense of achievement in my ability to maintain this pace, but I didn’t realize the toll it was taking. I did not know that in the midst of being swept up in the momentum, I had lost sight of what I truly valued and this came at a cost. Somewhere along the way, I had lost the joy.

As someone with a lifelong love of learning, I sought out inspiration by enrolling in a six month Co-Active life coaching course. I was taking this course to better serve my clients, but through experiential learning, I personally realized the profound impact of this work in my own life. I got clear on my values- something I had never even thought of. I created a life purpose statement. I became intentional with my actions and chose to say “no” (without guilt) to things that didn’t align. I learned how to be a better listener and to be more present with my family. I discovered that my drive for perfectionism, control, and achievement were actually creating most of the stress in my life. I realized that I was being unnecessarily hard on myself and others. I began making changes that seemed small at first, but turned out to be the seed of an internal revolution.

What started as a glimmer of light, grew and expanded until I found that I had regained the joy in my life and sparkle in my spirit. I was experiencing more contentment, clarity, and laughter than I had in a very long time. I discovered that happiness truly is an inside game. This is why I am so passionate about this work and why I am so genuinely excited to bring it to you.
